Lemno Burn
The Lemno
originates on the Hill of Finavon and flows through Carse Grey
estate and flows west until it meet two other streams (one of
which is the Black Burn) just the the west of the Quilko and from
this point runs east to join the South Esk to the East of Finavon
Castle.
In its way to
the South Esk, through arable farming land, the burn gains volume
and width due to field run-off drains .
This narrow burn has a number of small faster shallow stretches
with number of large
stones and a pockets of deeper water - not really pools as such.
The backside vegetation can be a real problem and is not suited to
fly fishing.
Again, like many
other streams, this burn is largely ignored by anglers - no record
of any fish catch has been logged with the club for a number of
years.
At the back end
of the season, which runs from 15th March to 6th October,
providing there is sufficient water, sea-trout and salmon from the
South Esk make their way up to spawn. These fish if encounter must
be left in peace and if caught returned unharmed
.
